Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – June Week 5 Posted: 29 Jun 2013 11:17 PM PDT Big changes in the top 10 this week as all the top three songs are new entries from outside of the top 10. As expected, SISTAR's "Give It To Me" moves from No. 13 all the way to No. 1 this week. This song has swept nearly every music chart in Korea and it is no surprise to see it on top of our chart with a high score of 977 points. "Give It To Me" is the title song of SISTAR's second full length album. Written by Double Sidekick, "Give It To Me" is an electronic dance beat song with an addictive melody. This song may be one of the top hit songs of 2013. With its success, SISTAR also firmly cemented themselves as one of the top girl groups in K-Pop now. Moving up a big 25-spots to No. 2 is After School's latest hit "First Love." This song is coming from After School's sixth maxi single of the same name. This slow-beat dance song is composed by Brave Brothers. It reminds us a little bit of another Brave Brothers hit song, SISTAR19's "Gone Not Around Any Longer" earlier this year. Listeners will be able to experience yet another side of After School through this number, including the pole dance in their performances. After School's songs are always in the top three but they are still looking for their first ever No. 1 song. Let see if they will get it this time. Also moving up 25 spots to No. 3 to complete a female sweep this week is Ivy's new song "I Dance." This is the title song from Ivy's second mini-album of the same name. This time Ivy reunited with JYP, who wrote this song and also her debut hit "Tonight" back in 2005. "I Dance" combines tango, hip-hop, and electronic genres. The song holds lyrics about dancing and singing in order to forget pain. What makes the song even more anticipated is that Wonder Girls' Yoobin lends her voice for the rap portion of the song. The last new song in the top 10 is at No. 7 and it belongs to rock band Nell's "Ocean Of Light." Recently, Nell released part two of their "Gravity" series, "Escaping Gravity." The songs in this album follow the theme of escaping from frustration and despair. Title song "Ocean Of Light" is written by lead singer Kim Jong Wan. This modern rock track brings out the finest in Korean rock music. Despite being dominated by idol singers, this song has no trouble hitting the top 10. This is the last weekly music chart of the first half of 2013. I am going to announce the half year top 10 K-Pop songs from our chart in the middle of next week. Be sure to check back and find out what are the most popular songs in the first half of this year. Singles Music Chart - June 2013, Week 5

Popping Cherries: A Newcomer’s Take on Exo’s “Wolf” Posted: 29 Jun 2013 06:34 PM PDT It’s been a few weeks since Exo dropped their comeback single, “Wolf.” And while K-Pop listeners either really love the song or really hate the song, sometimes our opinions are smothered in bias. So I got two of my good friends to watch the “Wolf” MV and give their honest opinions about it. 24 year-old Louisiana native Matthew, who’s already done a “Popping Cherries” with B.A.P’s “One Shot” and 28 year-old New Yorker Jen, who is totally new to the K-Pop world, join me in this howling edition of Popping Cherries. – Salima: This is Exo’s comeback after an entire year. Exo is a group from the biggest entertainment company in Korea and they had fans before they even debuted. They came out with 23 teaser videos. It’s 12 boys. Jen: Are they hot? Salima: Yes. Matthew: From what you’ve shown me about K-Pop, the guys usually look like girls. Salima: *Ignores Matthew* After a year of their fans waiting for them to comeback, they came out with a song called “Wolf.” This is it. Jen: So that’s a tree? It looks like a tree. Salima: That’s a tree. Jen: Woah. That was hot. Matthew: Oh my goodness, that boy’s hair! Jen: And his hair! Matthew: This is interesting. The beat just switched up. Jen & Matthew: *burst out laughing at howls* Matthew: Are they seriously howling right now? Seriously? Salima: Yes, dude. Jen: Despite that… this beat is kind of awesome. Salima: So these are the other 6 guys coming in. Earlier you only saw the first 6. Matthew: Was that a wolf? That was so cool. It’s filmed very well and the special effects are on point.
Jen: Did he just say, “situation”? Because I think I understood that. Salima: Haha yeah, he said “situation.” Next: Kaleidoscopes, jazz hands, and Dragon Ball Z?

Jinwoon especially demonstrated his desire to win during a meeting with the magazine photographer when he strongly insisted, “I would even be willing to expose myself in order to win the spot on the front page.” The photo set of the handsome Jinwoon & Go Jun Hee couple – with their model heights and figures – will broadcast on June 29 at 5:10pm. [Recap] CNBlue Cooks up a Storm with “Blue Moon Live in Manila” Posted: 29 Jun 2013 02:03 PM PDT June 15 was definitely a night to remember for Filipino Boices and CNBlue as the boys held their "Blue Moon" concert in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum. The boys’ one-night concert in Manila almost sold out so the organizers had to add more seats to accommodate everyone. CNBlue definitely charmed fans with their Filipino greetings. Hats off to them for speaking in English for most of the show. (You could say Jungshin got tired for a little while when he suddenly switched to Korean!) They made fans cheer even louder when they would say Filipino phrases in between their talks like when Junghsin asked if "masaya ba kayo?" (Are you happy?), Yonghwa with his "Sigaw, sigaw na" (Scream now!) and Jonghyuk's "Salamat" (Thank you.) The group rocked out to a lot of their hit songs including their latest single, "I'm Sorry," "Intuition, "In My Head," and "I'm a Loner." Yonghwa openly proclaimed himself as the "Number One Dancer" and showed off his dance skills while performing. He, along with Jungshin, impressed the audience with raps and a short beat box number during the show. The night was one to remember for leader Yonghwa, as the band members and fans sang him "Happy Birthday" and gave special birthday hats for the boys and fans to wear. Minhyuk riled up the crowd when he said "Today is a special day for one of the members" in Filipino. Yonghwa expressed his surprise and then sang "Happy Birthday" to himself. Fans followed suit and Yonghwa orchestrated them, thanking fans for the love and support. Yonghwa enjoyed the surprise for him. It truly was a fun night for Boices and CNBlue. I certainly had a good time singing along with the boys! After a successful run in Manila, Philippines, CNBlue will continue their "Blue Moon World Tour" tour in Beijing, China on June 29 at the Beijing Capital Gymnasium. Don't forget to check out the photos from their press conference in Manila in case you missed it!
